Day Nursery
Children attending Moorlands Nursery participate in a huge range of activities from arts and crafts to outdoor play, all designed to further their confidence and grow their skills.

Moorlands Nursery
Children here benefit from use of the school’s grounds as well as the Forest School area and newly extended outdoor play area, so they have plenty of opportunities for outdoor learning, exploration and play in the natural world. We provide plenty of natural resources and equipment encouraging inquisitive thinking and putting children at the centre of their learning.
The nursery offers 27 places to children aged from 6 weeks to 5 years and is split into two spacious rooms filled with fun and engaging equipment. The smaller size of Moorlands Nursery creates a cosy, personal setting for the children here and means we have high staff to child ratios.
We work closely with Moorlands School to ensure a smooth transition for children moving on to the primary school, making this step easy and enjoyable for them.

Our Groups
The Moorlands Nursery setting comprises of different groups each designed to accommodate and engage children of different age groups.
These rooms provide equipment and activities all tailored around the age and ability of your child, so they can get the most out of their nursery experience.
Our teaching approach puts children at the centre of their learning, allowing them to grow and develop at their own pace.

Minimum Staff to Child Ratio 1:3
This nursery group provides a gentle, calming environment for babies and young children.
Our team arrange tactile, sensory activities for the children in this room, all designed to aid development and grow skills.
Minimum Staff to Child Ratio 1:4
At this age children are exploring their environment, developing mobility and dexterity. We provide activities and resources that provoke thought, curiosity, exploration, and conversation, so children can learn through play.
Children are encouraged to run, jump, and climb to grow motor skills and are included in group activities to build communication skills.
Minimum Staff to Child Ratio 1:8
Here we help children grow their independence by encouraging them to complete manageable tasks for themselves.
Through setting the dinner table, pouring their own drinks, and learning to dress themselves children are able to build confidence and fine motor skills.
Group activities enable children to interact with their peers and develop their social skills.

The nutritional meals we offer mean that children establish healthy eating habits and can learn about the importance of leading healthy lifestyles.
We serve three homemade meals each day, as well as healthy snacks of fruit and vegetables. Our team of cooks can cater for any allergies/dietary requirements and serve meals in accordance with this.

Meals & Diet
Healthy minds, healthy bodies and healthy appetites
At Moorlands Nursery all the meals we serve are freshly prepared each day with local ingredients. We understand the importance of offering a healthy and balanced diet to children and take this responsibility very seriously.
Mealtimes are a great opportunity for children to learn as well as have fun. We sit in small groups during meals and children are encouraged to make decisions, try new things, and engage in conversation.

Outdoor Play
Outdoor learning plays an important part in our day here at Moorlands Nursery and we venture outside every day.
The playschool benefits from a large outdoor play area as well as access to the extensive school grounds. We also enjoy using the school’s Forest School area for outdoor learning and exploration.
We believe that through spending time outside children can learn about the natural world around them while also gaining confidence and new skills.

Our Team
Our team members all receive continuous training so their knowledge is always up to date and we choose our staff based on their passion and commitment to providing outstanding childcare.
All our key staff are qualified in childcare and are paediatric first aid trained. We create a warm and friendly environment where children can always feel at home.
Every child that joins us is assigned a key worker who builds a strong relationship with the child and takes a special interest in their well-being during their time at nursery.
This key worker plans activities for the child that will aid their development and is always there to help and answer any questions.
“Staff are extremely caring and affectionate with the children. The effective key- person system helps children to feel secure and to build firm relationships with staff.”
