- Work with and support children to provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care
- Work as part of a team in order to provide an enabling environment in which all individual children can play, learn and develop
- Work as part of a team to give support to other team members throughout the setting
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with parents
- Be patient, fun, understanding, kind, sensitive, consistent and loving to children in our care
- Check and be aware of individual children’s allergies in the room in which you are working, ensuring they are displayed correctly
- Provide comfort and reassurance to an upset or poorly child
- Work with parents of SEN children to give full integration into the setting
- Ensure children are given a voice and we take the time to seek their opinions and ideas
- Know and understand the British Values, Ofsted guidance and other regulations relating to your post.
- Be a keyworker to a group of reception children
- Liaise with school with regards to children’s development and areas of focus
- Be a point of contact should parents need to raise concerns or seek advice

- Raise concerns regarding a child’s health or welfare immediately with the Manager, Deputy or Designated Safeguarding Officer ensuring the correct paperwork is completed.
- Raise any concerns regarding a child’s development or emotional needs with the Manager or Deputy
- Report any concerns regarding staff immediately following the procedure in the whistleblowing policy and completing the correct paperwork
- Actively promote and support the safeguarding of children and adults in the workplace
- Work within the parameters set out in the safeguarding policy
- Ensure each child is collected by someone known to the setting, following the collection procedure
- Ensure all children are recorded on the register as soon as they enter the setting and signed out upon departure
- Ensure the safety of all children when escorting them to and from the club
- Ensure registration of all children before moving them through school
- Ensure the whereabouts of all children taking into account after school activities
- Ensure children and adults wear high visibility jackets when moving around the site and when playing outside
- Ensure safety on off site trips including completed risk assessments signed by the manager
- Ensure all emergency procedures are followed at all times
Health & Wellbeing
- Report all accidents and incidents on Connect, to the manager and parents
- Check that all medications have been prescribed; have the child’s name; and current date on them, fill in the details on Connect ensuring you have a photograph of the label, the dosage and times to be given.
- All medicines must be administered by the Manager or Deputy and witnessed by a second member of staff
- Administer first aid as required
- Ensure that meal times are a time of pleasant and social sharing
- Ensure varied and nutritious snacks are prepared in accordance with the menu and that fresh fruit and water is available at all times

- Understand and model positive behaviour reinforcement in line with the company policy, in order to develop children’s behaviour
- Ensure there is quiet space for children to read or complete homework, providing support where appropriate
- Provide opportunity for children to adapt and develop their own ideas

- Support all other staff and engage in promoting a happy and enjoyable working environment
- Support new members of staff providing a mentor role as appropriate
- Be involved in staff meetings
- Be flexible within the working practices of the setting to meet the needs of the children
- Listen and respond appropriately to instructions from supervisors
- Ensure general cleanliness and tidiness of the whole setting, not just specifically your own area daily
- Maintain the setting to a high standard including regular deep cleaning
- Ensure all areas shared with school are cleaned thoroughly after each session and all of the equipment is put away.
- In the event of you being ill and not able to attend work, you are required to notify a senior member of staff by telephone, text not acceptable, before 7.30am. You are then required to contact work on each subsequent day you are sick unless you have a Doctor’s note. When you intend to return to work you must contact the setting by 4pm on the day prior to returning to work
