- Check all deliveries and ensure food is of an acceptable standard
- Ensure any excess food is stored correctly and dated
- Ensure all food prepared is within date
- Prepare food age appropriately – smooth and blended for babies etc
- Cook appropriate quantities to avoid waste or shortages
- Ensure portion sizes are age appropriate

- Maintain very high standards of hygiene in the preparation of the food and in the kitchen and storage area’s
- Ensure the cleaning schedule is adhered to
- Ensure cleaning rota is up to date and maintained
- Wash up all crockery, utensils and equipment after every prepared meal

Food:
- Take responsibility during any Environment Health checks and bring any issues to supervisors’ attention immediately
- Only use the company bank account for company items, not personal use
- Use equipment appropriately so as to maintain their longevity
- In the event of you being ill and not able to attend work, you are required to notify a senior member of staff by telephone, (text not acceptable,) before 7.30am. You are then required to contact work on each subsequent day you are sick unless you have a Doctor’s note. When you intend to return to work you must contact setting by 4pm on the day prior to returning to work
- Ensure dress is appropriate for your duties following company dress code and including covering of hair
- Maintain confidentiality at all times
- Provide a professional image for the Company and to act appropriately whilst being perceived to be representing our company
Menu:
- Follow the set menus each week ensuring that each main meal contains a minimum of two portions ofvegetables
- Provide feedback and new ideas during menu review
- Ensure there is sufficient provisions ordered to provide food for the whole menu each week
- Source the best and most cost-effective providers of fresh fruit, meat and other provisions
Cooking:
- Meet any individual dietary requirements of children with allergies or religious preferences
- Work with parents, health professionals and setting staff to ensure children with specific requirements are catered for
- Prepare breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack, including fruit, fresh each day
- Ensure that all food is probed to ensure correct temperatures are met and recorded for each meal
- Be aware of current legislation relating to food preparation and ensure you are following this
- Use healthy cooking techniques
- Cook with the children weekly
- Prepare food and drinks for events such as parties, parents evening and training days
- Prepare special menus for celebrations i.e. Halloween
- Undertake any additional training necessary to fulfil your role
- Ensure Basic Food Hygiene certificate is always up to date
- Attend the company training days twice per year
- Prepare for Continual Professional Development meetings
- Set targets and the necessary actions required to meet these, collect evidence and prepare your file for annual consideration
- Provide feedback to other staff members at staff meetings etc after you have received additional training
- Ensure your own training file is kept up to date and inform manager of any specific training you feel you would benefit from
Record Keeping:
- Ensure all statutory records are maintained and are checked by a supervisor once a month
- Ensure temperatures of the fridge and freezer are recorded on a daily basis and the appropriate records are kept
- Ensure any cover staff are aware of records which need to be kept in your absence
- Ensure any missing records are updated as soon as it is noticed, it is your responsibility to ensure there are no gaps in these records even if you are not in work
- Complete water temperature checks and record on the appropriate documents
- Complete milk numbers and submit monthly
