What is a Key Worker?
Every child has a key worker regardless of how often they attend nursery. They take a special interest in your child’s development and well-being, planning activities for their specific learning needs and requirements.
During the settling in period children usually create natural bonds with team members and we choose their key worker based on these initial attachments. The key worker is responsible for reporting on your child’s development and providing support and advice to both you and your child.
How Does a Key Worker Benefit Your Child?
All of our staff work in close-knit teams, they share information on each child and their development which contributes to the continuity of care. This ensures that, even in the absence of your child’s key worker, you will see a team member at the beginning and end of each day who knows how your child is doing and can address any questions or concerns you may have.
By informing us of events which are taking place in a child’s life, such as the arrival of a sibling or a house move, may help us to assist you in preparing your child and/or dealing with difficult issues. Parents should be assured that any matters discussed will remain confidential at all times, in accordance with our policy.
