Every member of our team loves working with children and can give great cuddles should the need arise – both are essential qualities we look for in our staff.

We are blessed with amazing colleagues, many of them are parents or grandparents themselves with an understanding of busy family life and the pressures experienced by working parents.

90% of our staff are qualified nursery practitioners and are paediatric first aid trained. All receive safeguarding training on their induction before they even start working with children across our settings. As staff move through the business, we offer opportunities to develop new skills and we all undergo a continuous professional development programme. We are always learning so we are able to provide top class care and education for your child.

 

All our key staff have recognised childcare qualifications and we always have significantly more qualified team members on site than the minimum Ofsted requirement. Learning and exploration are essential aspects of the service we provide, so we employ a qualified primary school teacher who oversees all curriculum planning. Our support staff are crucial and carefully selected too – for example, we know that energy fuels fun and learning, and we care as much as you do that your child is eating a healthy diet. Our cooks are fab at preparing fresh and nutritious meals for everyone. 

The staff at Children’s Corner are carefully chosen for their passion and commitment to childcare and great customer service. We work hard to keep them happy and motivated because we know that a happy team brings energy, enthusiasm and smiles to our settings, making them fun and joyful places. Maintaining a loyal workforce with varied experience also brings consistency and the comfort of familiar faces to your child’s time at nursery.

Allan Dawson
Director

Allan was a police officer for 28 years and upon retirement joined the Company. Allan is currently a governor at a local primary school, a position he has held for over 15 years.

Mattie Dawson
Director

Mattie joined the company in 2017 having worked with an accountancy firm. He previously worked in both the out of school and holidays clubs whilst growing up. Mattie manages the financial overview of the company, alongside marketing and general facilities management for all 11 settings. Mattie also keeps an eye open for new and exciting opportunities.

Nic Stanworth
Operations Manager

Nic is our operations manager and lead Safeguarding officer. Nic has worked for the company for almost 20 years; a fully qualified teacher, Nic oversees all aspects of the company’s EYFS and developmental progression.

 

Julie Harding
HR Manager

Julie has worked for Children’s Corner for over 20 years. Julie is tasked with all recruitment into the company. From initial contact with applicants to final offers of employment and ensuring that all the relevant documentation, qualification and clearance checks are carried out.

Laura Gilbert
Accounts Manager

Laura joined the company in 2010, originally working within our Farsley nursery setting. Laura moved into head office in Farsley in 2017 and currently deals with all customer enquiries and general account management for all settings, this includes holding the role of Funding Manager and liaises closely with the Family Information Service within Leeds City Council to ensure that we are fully up to date with the latest information for our families. 

Christine Hardman
Office Manager

Christine joined the company in 2017 having previously worked within a large private school where she was employed for over 17 years. Previous roles prior to that have included working within the NHS and within a large IT company. Christine brings a wealth of knowledge around the sector to Children’s Corner. She manages the head office function on a day to day basis as well as coordinating our management, event and training opportunities. In addition, she assists Laura with customer and account enquiries.

Hayley Dunwell
Out of School Manager

Hayley’s previous role within Children’s Corner as manager of our Moorlands setting has given her an abundance of knowledge and experience. Hayley’s move into head office now allows her to oversee all our Out of School and Holiday club settings. She provides great support to Nic as her deputy operations manager.
